Siggi wraps up 2025 and looks ahead
The past year has not been the easiest in Optimar’s proud history. Like many companies in the seafood industry, the business has faced market uncertainty, lower activity levels, and tough decisions. At the same time, it has been a year that confirms Optimar’s long-term direction – and its belief in the future.
– In many ways, the past year turned out as we expected. We had to go through restructuring and downsizing, and the market has not fully recovered yet, says Optimar CEO Siggi.
The industry has experienced fluctuations over several years, and Optimar has felt the impact. According to Siggi, this makes resilience and long-term thinking more important than ever.
At the same time, Siggi is clear that Optimar is entering the next phase with confidence and a clear sense of direction.
– We know where we’re heading, and we’re taking the necessary steps to get there. The actions we’ve taken give us a stronger foundation going forward, and we feel optimistic stepping into 2026.
Customer focus and innovation as the way forward
Optimar remains firmly focused on what Optimar does best: supporting customers with innovative solutions that help them stay competitive.
– The most important thing for Optimar going forward is to be customer-centric and to keep strengthening our innovation. What we bring to the market must ensure that our customers stay at the forefront of the industry, Siggi explains.
Innovation, quality and tailored solutions have long been central to Optimar’s approach, and that focus is only becoming stronger as the company looks ahead.
Owners with a long-term perspective
A key factor in navigating challenging times is having owners who understand the industry and are committed to the long haul.
– Our owners are in it for the long run. We are aware of the fluctuations in this industry, and when times are difficult, it’s crucial to have owners who know our industry and understand what we’re going through and can back us up, says Siggi.
That long-term ownership provides stability and confidence not only for the company, but also for customers and employees.
People at the core
While technology and innovation are vital, Siggi is clear about what truly drives Optimar forward.
– The key pillar behind Optimar is, of course, the people. We have to have our people with us, he says.
Over the past two years, the company has focused heavily on building trust, strengthening collaboration, and creating a shared sense of direction.
– I believe that in the time we’ve been together, we’ve built strong connections and trust. Together, we are strong.
Ending the year stronger
– We’re coming to the end of a year that has been quite fruitful and exciting, with both highlights and setbacks. But once again, we are stronger together going forward, he says.
With the holiday season approaching, his message is also a personal one.
– I encourage everyone to use the holidays well. Spend time with family and friends, recharge the batteries. Then we’ll see each other next year, ready to do some amazing things. Merry Christmas!
