Optimar Academy works alongside our leaders and Human Resources Department to ensure exactly that.
– The Optimar Academy’s main priority is to make sure our employees continue to challenge themselves and to find solutions to make them feel safe, creative and committed, André Farstad, Manager of Optimar Academy, explains.

Pushing boundaries
Our SVP of HR & Organization, Lene Susan Flem Debess, agrees. – We have a responsibility to bring out the full potential of each individual. Everyone deserves the opportunity to push their own boundaries and to feel safe while doing it. It’s challenging, but we’ve seen what people can manage as long as they are provided with a solid foundation and a supportive team, she adds.
In order to achieve this kind of work environment, we have, for instance, created certification programs and standardizations to provide predictability and a common understanding.
– Right now, we’re finishing a huge certification program to ensure even more efficient processes. The goal is for everyone to understand every part of the process, who’s responsible for what and the different roles, André explains. This will also result in an e-learning platform to ensure repetition and that new employees are on the same page. However, this is just one of many measures to improve. At Optimar, we develop training programs for all the various departments – from sales to engineering.

Never a boring day at Optimar
– Optimar will continue to lead the innovation and create new markets. In other words, there’s never a boring day at work, Lene says.
And with owners who share that vision and who are in this for the long term, new employees are in for an incredible journey. Farstad has no doubt when asked why someone should apply for a position at Optimar.
– The people we are hiring now will not be just another coworker; they’ll be a part of developing a company. In addition, they’ll get plenty of challenges and room for growth.
A 360 sustainable mindset
When it comes to developing a company, Optimar works with sustainability from the inside out. Just as a sustainable work environment is important in order to achieve high employee satisfaction, we work in the same way with our products. Using our equipment ensures a low wastage and we work hard to utilize the residual raw materials. Our products, being heavy machinery, are meticulously crafted to achieve a safe work environment and fish handling with care.
Compete for success
For everyone wondering if they’re the right fit for a career at Optimar, Lene has something important to add.– We value diversity. It’s simply our responsibility to make room for everyone. We don’t care about where you’re from, how old you are, or whether you’re male, female, or none of the above, she says.
The most important thing is the ability to dare ask questions, improve every day, and compete for success along with the rest of the team. The rich combination of personalities is key to keeping innovating and creating sustainable solutions for at least another 80 years. Take your seat!
